You're invited to join us for the October 2026 Jackson Josephine Small Woodlands Association Meeting & Program. Open to all; non-members welcome! This is a great opportunity to meet with your neighbors, make new friends, gain knowledge, and share your experience managing forest land in Southwest Oregon. The Thursday evening program will be available only over Zoom.

Mike Cafferata is a native Oregonian, forester, and the Executive Director of the Oregon Small Woodlands Association. After a 28-year career with the Oregon Department of Forestry, including serving as the District Forester in Forest Grove, Mike joined OSWA in 2025 to lead the organization representing Oregon’s family forestland owners.

Greetings Jackson/Josephine OSWA Chapter Members!

We have a meeting planned for Oct 22 - Mike Cafferata will host a Zoom meeting on recreational liability. This was a presentation in Washington County that seemed especially important for landowners, and a difficult one for each chapter to host, so they recorded the presentation. It is a presentation from OSWA member and attorney Mike Haglund reviewing Oregon's recreational liability laws affecting landowners, including changes to liability waiver laws made during the last legislative session. The presentation provides a useful overview of recreational liability issues.

The presentation runs about 45 minutes, and we will discuss it afterwards. The presentation starts at 6, but the Zoom link will be open at 5:30, in case you want to join a few minutes early and make sure everything works. If you need help with Zoom outside that 30-minute window, email Mike and he will find a time to practice with you on Zoom.
