Thinning Tour at Cedar Spring Tree Farm

  • Monmouth, Oregon United States (map)

Join the Benton Small Woodlands members for a Tour of On-going Thinning

Cedar Spring Tree farm, located between Corvallis and Monmouth

Dave Hibbs and Sarah Karr are thinning their 35-year-old Douglas-fir forest to improve individual tree growth and stimulate understory development for improved wildlife habitat. Openings are also made around groups of hardwoods. Come hear about the trade-offs among the different options for thinning density and regularity (we like irregularity) and see a magical harvester at work.

We will meet August 28, at 8:30 am. We will meet at our farm neighbor's gravel lot 14200 Airlie Road, Monmouth) and car pool from there. There will be walking and logging slash to contend with. Please bring a hardhat if you have one.

There will be lots of opportunity for questions and discussion as we walk through the forest.  We plan to wrap up before 11.

Any questions, call Sarah Edwardsson at 541-231-7829.
