from Dan Stark | OSU Extension FNR Forestry Extension Agent

I am reaching out to invite everyone to a breakfast meeting to hear all about some upcoming educational programming opportunities in Lincoln County, starting in January 2024.

 The meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 21, from 8 – 9 a.m., at the Newport Pig ‘N Pancake, 810 SW Alder. You will be responsible for your own tab.

 Please invite other small woodland owners and/or family and neighbors who might be interested in joining us (and ultimately OSWA). I reserved a table for 20 and I would appreciate an RSVP by Friday, November 17, just in case I have to make room for more folks. Ideally, I would LOVE to make room for more folks! The more the merrier. When you RSVP, please let me know if you can make it, and if so, how many in your party, and if you invited anyone else to join us.

I will be providing an overview of what I am calling it the “Getting to Know Your Forest” program series:

  • Basic Forestry Shortcourse (BFS) - a weekly, introductory four-class series intended for new/newer small woodland owners or those who are interested in a refresher of the basics, offered in late January – Early February;

  • Lincoln – Lane Master Woodland Manager (MWM) - a bi-weekly, intensive all-day field day, 7-class series for the experienced small woodland owner who has taken or plans to take a Basic Forestry Short Course, scheduled for late March through end of June; and

  • Getting Started on Your Management Plan - a three-class series for those wanting to develop or brush up on their forest management plan, sometime in the Fall of 2024.

All programming will be IN-PERSON, and exact locations of each is to be determined.

You can learn more about BFS and MWM, as well as other FNR Extension Programs here.

Thank you and I hope to see you at “the Pig,” if not sooner. Please share this email to interested parties, and as always, please reach out with any questions or just to say hi.
