Silviculture, Fire, and Ecology of Dry Forests

  • Collins Demonstration Forest Gold Hill 4216 Sardine Creek Road Gold Hill, OR, 97525 United States (map)

Cost: $10 per person

Do you want to learn more about the forests in Southern Oregon and how to steward them? This is a great opportunity to tour our Demonstration Forest and learn from Silviculture Specialist Mark Swanson. Come meet with forester, ecologist, and Extension Specialist Mark Swanson for a walking exploration of the Collins Experimental Forest.

This forest property, with conifer forest, oak woodland, meadows, and more is an ideal location to discuss forest stewardship in the relatively dry forest types of Southwest Oregon. It is also a great location to discuss the multiple values that a well-managed small forest property can provide, including habitat, fire resilience, forest products, recreation, and aesthetics.

This class is open to Jackson and Douglas County residents. Class limit 30 people.
