Tailgate Tour: Big Leaf Maple Syruping

OSU Extension/LCSWA Tailgate Tour: Exploring Bigleaf Maple Syrup

August 12, 6 – 8 pm

Do you have maple trees on your property? Do you enjoy tasty treats? Join us for an introduction to bigleaf maple syrup production at Brian and Blair Kearney's property near Mohawk, OR!

We will walk through the sugarbush and see examples of maple tapping, sap collection, and sap processing. We will talk about different methods of collection and processing, from small-scale hobby syruping to commercial-scale production, and discuss challenges for landowners interested in this growing industry.

Stay for an optional dessert potluck after the hike and taste some Oregon-grown maple syrup!
